Director ID

From November 30th 2022, all Directors must have a Director Identification Number. This is a unique number required for every individual who is registered as a director for a company, registered Australian body, registered foreign company or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporation.

All directors will need to apply for their own ID. You will only have one Director ID number and it will be applied to any business you are a registered director of currently and in the future. The purpose of this is to reduce fraud and false identities plus it will help to identify and eliminate director involvement in unlawful activity.

You can apply for your Director ID through your MyGovID app. Only you can apply for your Director ID number so this isn’t something you can engage someone else to do on your behalf, though they can assist you with your registration if you need help. There is no cost associated with this mandatory registration.
